Incredible close-up view of solar flare erupting from Sun

Nasa's Solar Dynamic Observatory has captured amazing close-up footage of a solar flare erupting from the surface of the Sun. It was classified as N6.5 flare which is ten times less powerful than the most intense ones which are labelled X-class. Solar flares are powerful bursts of radiation, which can disturb the atmosphere in the Earth's layer where GPS and communications signals travel, if they are intense enough. Report by Jeremy Barnes.
